Don’t be the fixer of the world
The healer of all wounds,
The balm for everyone’s pain,
The lighthouse everyone seeks.
One day you could be gone with a fleeting breath,
And those searching for your light will be left adrift.
Due to your excessive help, masked as love and care,
They will feel even more lost than before,
Hurt, broken, and unable to fend for themselves.
So instead of trying to mend the shattered pieces in others,
Let them learn how to tend to their own wounds.
Offer them the bandages or even stitching needles,
But allow them the space to patch themselves up
Don’t be the enabler of co-dependency.
The “fixer” who ends up leaving more scars
than actually healing.
As conscious souls, we are called to help.
To be compassionate,
And spread loving-kindness across the planet.
We can choose to walk beside those who struggle
Offering them a cane if needed,
But we must not carry them in our arms,
Only to end up falling under the burdened weight.
You, conscious souls,
Can shine your light brighter,
Into everyone’s homes and hearts,
But you must also teach them
that the same light within you,
Can shine just as brightly,
If not brighter, within them
So instead of being the enabler of the need for rescue,
Be the enabler of empowerment and self-reliance.
